Updated: Nov 10, 2022

What are School Physicals for?

Have you ever wondered why your child needs a physical every year? As I am sure you have noticed, a lot can change in a child’s or teen’s health and development in 12 short months. Therefore, it is important to stay on top of your child’s health for preventative care as they grow.

Why does my child need a physical?

Many schools require back to school physicals to ensure that your child is up-to-date on their vaccines and as a preventative health check. Preventative care visits allow for your child to have a complete examination of his/her growth and development in order to prevent problems. These visits are important to keep children healthy and to focus on what is being done well in addition to changes that can improve your child's wellness.

When should my child get their physical?

Typically think spring or summer when scheduling your child's physical. Your child should be getting their physical as they are getting ready to start off a new academic year. Though it varies from school to school, documentation is often required for your child to begin the school year, in addition to sports and activities.
